- Professional Coaches are qualified career practitioners, psychologists, or human resource professionals who provide career coaching and advice to clients
- Industry Coaches have at least three years’ experience in their occupation and wish to share their personal career stories and deep knowledge with people wanting to know more.

What qualifications do you need to be a CareerAbility® coach?
Professional Coaches must:
- Have a CICA endorsed graduate certificate in career development or be a professional member of a CICA member association
- Or be a Registered Psychologist with area of practice endorsement in organisational psychology or counselling psychology
- Or be a human resource management professional (professional member of AHRI or other HR association)
Industry Coaches must have:
- A desire to help people learn about an occupation or industry
- Appropriate qualifications for their occupation (e.g., degree, trade certificate)
- At least 3 years’ experience in their occupation or industry
- The ability to communicate with a range of people
